Why does the New Zealand health sector need private-public partnerships?
In healthcare, PPP models have been traditionally focused on financing hospitals and clinics and other infrastructure. The partnership model is evolving into a viable way of addressing larger challenges that health systems are facing everywhere: the need to reduce costs, improve quality and expand access to services.
Government spending on healthcare is growing at a significant (and unsustainable) pace. Demand for health services is set to increase as the population ages.
