- As well as having a dedicated team of sustainability and climate change specialists in New Zealand, the local team is also closely aligned with global counterparts. This is especially important when we consider the lead that Europe has taken within the field of corporate sustainability issues. The New Zealand team are regularly in close liaison with our international colleagues through internal communications networks and knowledge databases, direct meetings, and attending international forums and conventions.
Influencing opinion through thought leadership
- PwC sustainability and climate change specialists in New Zealand and around the world are regularly involved in thought leadership forums, invited to contribute to speaking engagements and have produced many written publications. - Contributing to critical thought leadership in the New Zealand climate change arena, Julia Hoare has held key roles contributing to climate change policy formation and implementation.
- To assist New Zealand businesses understand New Zealand climate change issues, PwC has published Emission Critical, a publication that addresses key climate change topics.
- PwC has also been working with the World Economic Forum to assist the G20 task force on low carbon prosperity. Specifically, PwC is a workstream leader on market mechanisms, incentives for acceleration in low carbon technologies and adaptation.
- Sam DiPiazza, PwC’s recently retired global CEO, was chair of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. PwC is also a signatory to the UN Global Compact.
Leaders in sustainability services
- In recent years, PwC has released a number of thought leadership pieces on embedding sustainability in the business sector. For the fourth consecutive year, PwC and Sustainable Asset Management (SAM) Group presented the Sustainability Yearbook 2008 at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. The Sustainability Yearbook is the world’s most comprehensive publication on sustainability and the related challenges and opportunities for companies. In addition, it addresses the current and future challenges for companies in 57 specific industry sectors.
