Partner, PwC New Zealand
Across nearly 20 years as a partner at PwC, Colum has undertaken a variety of leadership roles for the firm. Colum initially focused on domestic and international transactions. He has led many of the largest and most complex mergers, acquisitions and capital market transactions in Aotearoa. After growing up in Ireland, Colum worked in London and Bermuda and has extensive experience in international transactions including in Japan, India, USA, Europe, Australia and China.
Together with fellow partner Wicki Huang, Colum is the co-leader of PwC New Zealand’s China Business Team. They bring their experience in transactions to bridge the gap between New Zealand and one of the world’s most powerful economies and New Zealand's largest trading partner. After establishing the China Business Team in 2009, Colum has worked with a dedicated team to support both Chinese businesses investing in New Zealand and New Zealand companies establishing or growing their operations in China.
Colum has been involved with the New Zealand China Council since its inception, and has represented the Council as an investment specialist at the 2015 Partnership Forum in Beijing and as part of the New Zealand Prime Minister business delegation to China in 2016. He was a New Zealand Special Representative at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing in 2017. Colum is currently an Executive Committee Member of the Council.
A lifelong interest in technology lead Colum to focus on growing our Data and Analytics capabilities and he now oversees our firmwide D&A capabilities.
Outside of work and spending time with his family, you might find Colum cheering on the Irish rugby team (a better experience in recent years) and the All Blacks (unless they play each other), or attempting to bring his golf skills on par with his enthusiasm for the sport.
