Geoff is an experienced economist with a passion for cities. He uses economics to help our cities be inclusive, sustainable and internationally competitive.
Geoff has 10 years of global urban policy experience including with the United Nations, the United States Treasury and the Federal Reserve. He is a former Chief Economist for Auckland Council, where he worked on infrastructure, housing, regulation and financial policy.
Outside of work, Geoff founded the Aotearoa Development Cooperative, an institution with a mission to improve financial services for the working poor in developing Asia.
Geoff lives in Auckland with his wife and son. He holds a Master of Economics with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland and a Master of Public Affairs from Princeton University. In 2012 he was awarded the IPANZ New Government Professional of the year and in 2018 was included in the University of Auckland’s inaugural list of 40 under 40 to watch.
