Kate Dekker

Partner, PwC New Zealand

Kate works to solve businesses’ financial problems and seeks opportunities from regulatory, economic and social environment changes. As a Partner in our Deals team, she works primarily in Restructuring with a focus on the agricultural sector.  Kate brings significant banking experience to help her clients respond to changes, find new investors, establish and maintain relationships with banks.

Kate joined us from ANZ where she worked for 16 years in a range of banking and legal roles. Primarily Kate was responsible for managing challenging situations facing ANZ and its clients. Those challenges could arise from macro economics, growing pains, merges and acquisitions that did not go to plan, family disputes or general breakdown of communication. Kate’s job was to devise and implement a strategy that avoided waste and maximised value for all stakeholders. Kate has spent a lot of time working with large scale dairy farmers across New Zealand and is on her third pair of Red Bands.

Prior to joining PwC, Kate headed the ANZ Commercial and Agri Credit team where she ran a team of credit officers and developed the credit policies and operational frameworks conducive to a sustainable and profitable portfolio of loan assets in these very interesting times.

Kate believes that New Zealand farming has an amazing future provided we focus on sustainable, humane and traceable food production.

Most weekends you'll find Kate and her family trying to extract food and fun from a 25 acre block in the Waitakeres, west of Auckland. So far only beef and honey are reliable, but fruit trees are growing and a vegetable patch is planned.
