Partner, Māori Sector Leader, PwC New Zealand
Wayne is the National Leader of the PwC Manukura Māori Business team and is of Ngāti Maniapoto and Waikato-Tainui descent. Wayne is responsible for PwC’s Māori sector strategy including the promotion of future Māori leadership and capability within the firm through PwC’s scholarship and recruitment programmes. He has particular responsibility for developing and leading the firm’s strategy for the Māori sector and ensuring the firm has a clear set of guiding principles covering appreciation for te reo and tikanga.
Wayne has been with PwC since 1997, which includes experience in the United Kingdom. Wayne has extensive experience covering a wide range of assignments including due diligence reviews, merger and acquisitions related matters and initial public offerings. He has experience in strategic and business planning, governance and organisational structure reviews. With his considerable knowledge of the Māori Economy and New Zealand commercial landscape, Wayne can provide expertise and guidance on current and future analysis and trends within the Māori and Primary sectors.
Wayne has several years’ experience in providing Assurance services, having undertaken a number of audits with clients in various industries including industrial products, consumer goods, telecommunications and tourism. He also has significant experience with assessing financial systems, controls and processes to strengthen client’s risk management and internal control frameworks.
Wayne understands the key drivers of value in businesses and brings a very commercial approach to the services he provides. His Deals, Advisory and Assurance experience has ranged in size from government funded agencies and small not-for-profit organisations to multi-national organisations.
