Turning risk into opportunity

The 2016 New Zealand Financial Services CEO Survey examines the trends that are shaping the sector and how CEOs are responding. As well as considering the growing importance of innovation, the report then dives into the Banking and Insurance sectors to better understand the pace of technological change and customer demands these sectors are facing.

Our analysis draws on the findings from 490 Financial Services respondents to the 2016 Global CEO Survey and considers how their responses might translate into a local setting.

Among the key findings from our report are:

  • 63 per cent of Financial Services CEOs see more threats now than three years ago
  • 70 per cent are concerned with the pace of technological change
  • 50 per cent see additional costs as a barrier to meeting stakeholder expectations
  • Insurance is at the second-highest risk of disruption after entertainment and media
  • 80 per cent of Banking CEOs see Customer Relationship Management as the technology that will see the greatest return on investment
