Some of the highlights from our July report include:

  • French dairy giant Danone is to acquire US organic food group WhiteWave in a cash deal worth $12.5bn.
  • Monsanto turned down Bayer’s improved $64bn acquisition offer, but said it was open to further talks with Bayer and other parties.
  • Shareholders of DuPont and The Dow Chemical Company voted to approve all proposals to complete their merger of equals.
  • AGCO is to acquire Cimbria Holdings for US$340m from Silverfleet Capital.
  • Emmi is to acquire the remaining 40% stake in Mittelland Molkerei AG in a cash and stock deal.
  • Archer Daniels Midland is to sell its 19.85% stake in GrainCorp after its failed attempt to take it over.
  • Tsing Capital is to establish a new US$1bn Food and Agritech fund to invest in Australian food production facilities.
  • Aoxin Tianli is to acquire a majority stake in Hainan Chengmai Zaohuaxiang Hog Industry in a cash and stock deal.
