Luke is a Partner in PwC New Zealand's Advisory practice, specialising in Actuarial & Risk Modelling.
Luke helps organisations navigate uncertainty and make confident decisions through actuarial modelling, risk management and financial analysis. He works with clients to solve complex challenges by combining deep technical expertise with practical insights, helping organisations understand future risks, evaluate different scenarios and make informed strategic decisions.
Luke joined PwC New Zealand as a graduate in 2009 and has built his career across New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada before returning to PwC New Zealand as a Director in the Actuarial & Risk Modelling team in 2019. Along the way, he gained experience in consulting, regulation and industry, including working in the London insurance market, holding a prudential regulation role with the Bank of England, and leading pricing activities for a large Canadian general insurer.
Luke primarily works with financial services organisations, particularly general insurers and banks, while also supporting government agencies and other organisations facing complex risk and forecasting challenges. He is recognised for helping clients translate technical complexity, data and regulatory requirements into practical insights that support better decision-making and create long-term value.
Throughout his career, Luke has led a range of significant initiatives, including leading the Data, Analytics and Reporting functions for New Zealand's COVID-19 Vaccination Programme while on secondment to the Ministry of Health. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and the Society of Actuaries New Zealand, an Appointed Actuary for multiple insurance entities, and leads PwC New Zealand's public sector actuarial portfolio while co-leading the firm's General Insurance actuarial capability.
Outside of work, Luke enjoys spending time with his wife, their two young children, and their dog. He loves being outdoors, whether hiking, skiing, running or exploring New Zealand with his family, and enjoys reading and tackling a good cryptic crossword puzzle.
