Joelle is passionate about providing pragmatic legal advice and commercial solutions for her clients. She values working closely with clients to build strong relationships and to achieve positive outcomes in the business environment. She prides herself on remaining focussed on the results that matter.
As a highly experienced corporate and commercial lawyer, Joelle advises on a wide range of business matters including mergers and acquisitions, transaction structuring, investment funds, due diligence processes, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, capital raising, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, start-up investment and corporate governance. She has led large and complex M&A transactions including detailed due diligence investigations, competitive bid processes and complex multi-party and multi-jurisdictional negotiations. Joelle also works with distressed businesses in respect of corporate restructuring and rescue options as well as advising receivers, liquidators and administrators in the sale of business and assets of insolvent entities.
In 2022, she was named “Corporate Governance Lawyer of the Year” in the Asia Pacific Women in Business Law Awards.
In providing legal services and solutions, Joelle and her team work closely with the tax, deals, accounting, consulting and private business teams within PwC, both locally and internationally. This enables her to offer clients access to the largest professional services network in New Zealand and to provide her clients with a truly unique and highly valuable integrated service offering.
Outside of the office, Joelle enjoys spending time with her husband and two young boys, including skiing in the winter, walking in the hills, watching her children’s many weekend sporting activities and enjoying the other outdoor pursuits that Canterbury and the wider New Zealand has to offer. She also sits on the board of trustees of her local primary school.
