Mike Bignell

Partner, PwC New Zealand

Mike knows that succeeding on the international stage can be challenging. In leading our emerging business team, Mike is renowned for providing pragmatic and commercial advice across a range of issues to help drive international growth and success for clients.

Mike’s experience working with a wide variety of clients and across the broader PwC network allows him to provide advice quickly and effectively.

He brings a strong commercial perspective to the broad range of issues faced by businesses operating internationally. His specialties lie in structuring a company’s commercial and tax presence offshore and also includes strategic business advice, international tax considerations and transfer pricing obligations. Mike’s governance experience also allows him to provide insight on how a board or an independent party can assist in navigating the complex world of international business.

He also believes that while managing tax issues is important in order to operate internationally, understanding what government agencies can assist with, what supply chain options exist and how to fund expansion and manage treasury are in his experience, often overlooked.

Mike is a keen hockey player, representing New Zealand at Masters level in 2011 and is looking forward to doing so again at the World Masters Games in Auckland in 2017. He is the proud Chairman of Midlands Hockey, one of the top three regions in New Zealand. Mike also has two young daughters, so weekends are generally filled with family time and kids events.
