PwC New Zealand is proud to have advised Contact Energy on the successful acquisition of Manawa Energy. The deal involved Contact acquiring 100% of Manawa shares, creating one of the most significant transactions in recent New Zealand M&A history.
This acquisition combines two major players in New Zealand’s renewable energy landscape. Contact Energy is a leading electricity generator and retailer with a growing renewable portfolio and clear decarbonisation ambitions, while Manawa Energy offers a geographically diversified portfolio of hydro-electricity plants and brings significant assets and expertise.
The PwC New Zealand team played a multi-disciplinary role in the transaction, supporting Contact Energy with commercial, financial, diligence and capital raising and funding advisory services.
Simon Healy, PwC New Zealand Partner, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to have supported Contact Energy on this landmark acquisition. It reflects the bold vision of both parties and strengthens the country’s renewable energy future.”
