Professional ethics for business professionals
Welcome to our professional ethics training.
Understanding the role and practice of ethics is essential for every business professional. High ethical standards matter more than ever. This course has been developed by members of PwC’s Ethics and Business Conduct Committee to help you meet mandatory requirements and earn verifiable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours—so you can make confident decisions in complex situations.
CPD requirements for CA ANZ members (from 1 July 2024)
From 1 July 2024, the mandatory ethics training requirement increased from two to six hours per triennium for trienniums starting on or after that date. Read the CPD requirements for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).
How the course works
We’ve organised the online course into four modules:
Module one
- Understand and recognise the importance of ethics
- Identify your ethical style
Module two
- Introduction to CA ANZ’s Code of Ethics (the Code) for Chartered Accountants
- Learn the five fundamental principles of the Code
- Understand the conceptual framework to identify, evaluate and address threats
Module three
- Recognise the five key threats identified in the Code
- Apply safeguards to eliminate threats or reduce them to an acceptable level
- Identify threats arising from conflicts of interest
Module four
- What the Code says about:
- Professional appointments
- Fee and employment remuneration arrangements
- Marketing and gifts
- A five-step approach to dealing with ethical conflicts
- Eight common social media mistakes
